KADUNA – The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Thursday described its late member, Mr Shaibu Tukura as a pillar to the legislature.
The lawmakers said this during the valedictory session held in honour of the 61-year-old member who died on March 31.
The valedictory session, presided by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr Peter Adamu, provided an avenue for the members to pay their tribute and last respect to the deceased.
Adamu described the deceased as a man of peace who lived an honourable life.
“Having worked with him as honourable member of the House from June 6, 2011 to the day he answered the glorious call, every of his word is peace. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
Other members who spoke at the session described Tukura as a humble person who never discriminated among his colleagues.
They acknowledged his detribalised nature and hailed his zeal for hard work and promotion of sustainable peace, unity and mutual understanding among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the state.
Some of them also recalled their last encounter with the deceased and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and the fortitude for his family to bear the irreparable loss.
After the session, Adamu led other members to pay their last respect to the deceased, whose corps was laid-in-state in the Assembly chamber.
Tukura had represented Kauru constituency in the assembly.
He died in an Indian Hospital after a protracted illness and is survived by a wife, five children and a grand daughter. (NAN)
