Kaduna – The Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Maj.-Gen Jamil Sarham, has pledged to support the National Museum in its activities, especially in promoting the cherished values, culture and customs of the Nigerian people.
Sarham made the remarks when he received the Kaduna State Curator, National Museum and Monument, who paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday in Kaduna.
The commandant said the NDA will continue to partner with the national museum, assuring that the military has deep respect for the traditions and culture of the people.
He said the NDA is open to offering any form of support to the national museum.
In his remarks, the Curator, Muhammad Gimba, said their visit was to deepen existing collaboration with the NDA.
Gimba said the museum as non-profit organization, collect, preserve and exhibit tangible and intangible historical objects to communicate, promote and improve the people’s culture.
He told the commandant that, “Our service to humanity has always been to create, establish and supervise a platform of tolerance, inclusion, peace and development of Nigerians.
“We are very particular about the younger generation who have less or zero contact with any ancestral value in culture, innovation or methodology.
“To this effect, we have collaborated with NDA through former commandant, retired Maj.-Gen Adeniye Oyebade, who was instrumental in the establishement of National Museum Kaduna Children Park.”
Gimba also disclosed that the NDA has being the most renowned partners to national museum Kaduna over the years.
“Sir, we have a tourist conveyance vehicle that has been grounded over time which give us challenges in providing efficient service in the musuem.
“We will be glad if NDA comes to our rescue in that regard as part of NDA’s corporate social responsibility,” Gimba said.
The curator prayed for the commandant to surpass the achievements of his predecessors in producing gallant professional military officers for the country.
