Osogbo – A 40-year-old man, Ayodele Isaac, was on Thursday arraigned at a Federal High Court in Osogbo for alleged fraud of N1.5 million.
Isaac is facing a charge of fraud levelled against him.
The state counsel prosecutor, Mr M.R. Faremi , told the court that the defendant committed the offence between June 2017 and April 2018 at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) area in Ile-Ife, Osun.
Faremi said that the defendant who happened to be working for one Mrs Folashade Ajilore, hacked into her computer system.
The prosecutor added that the defendant then diverted the sum of N1.5 million from his employer’s account before he was tracked and later arrested.
He said that the offence contravened Section 1(1)((C)(3) of the Advance Free Fraud and other related offences ,Act Cap 2010.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The defence counsel, Mr J.A. Adeboye, prayed the court to grant his client bail on the most liberal terms.
The presiding judge, Justice Peter Lifu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million and two sureties in the like sum.
The judge said that both sureties must be civil servants on Grade Level 10 in the state civil service .
Lifu said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and show evidence of tax payments to the state government.
The judge added that the sureties must affix two passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means to their evidence.
The judge adjourned the case until Feb. 25 for hearing.
