Abuja- A contestant during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary for the House of Representatives election in 2015, Ms Aisha Osori, has crossed over to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Osori told newsmen at the APC national secretariat in Abuja that she decided to carpet-cross after watching events at the APC presidential primary held in Lagos on Dec. 8.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Osori had lost out at the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency primary in the FCT.
Osori said she also decided to carpet-cross because she has a belief in the APC presidential candidate’s running mate, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, who was her lecturer at one time.

“I decided to denounce my PDP membership after watching the APC conduct its presidential primary in a fair and competitive manner.
“And, after seeing that there is now a combination of Osibanjo and Buhari, who are both men of integrity, I was fully convinced I have to take that decision.
“Osibanjo used to teach me at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lagos, and I believe that his being a running mate to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is a great combination that will move the country forward.
“I want to be part of that team,’’ she said.
Osori also said the APC slogan of “Change’’ was enough reason to support the party, especially as more than 70 per cent of Nigerians are youths who want a change.
The politician, who is the CEO of the Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund, said her experience would be a good contribution to the success of APC at the general elections.

“The years of experience I have garnered in the private sector as a lawyer and also as a writer, first with the Thisday newspaper and later with the Leadership newspaper, will be of great value to APC,’’ she said.
Reacting to the defection, the APC National Secretary, Mai-Mala Buni, who presented the party’s membership card to Osori, said he was happy that APC was waxing stronger by the day.
“An event like this will be a continuous thing. Our doors are open. Everyone who is ready to join the party is welcome, anytime and any day,’’ he said.(NAN)
