Seoul – North Korea has cancelled the Pyongyang marathon scheduled for April 12 owing to the coronavirus outbreak.
Tour operators Young Pioneer and Koryo said on Friday that they were informed by their travel partners in North Korea that the race won’t take place.
Koryo said that they “received official confirmation today that the Pyongyang Marathon 2020 is cancelled.
“This is due to the ongoing closure of the North Korean border and COVID-19 virus situation in China and the greater region.’’
North Korea has reported no case of the virus but has closed all borders and extended quarantine periods to 30 days, which reportedly is mandatory for all foreigners living in the country.
