The NYCN Chairman, Mr Oluwafemi Gbadebo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday that the debate would hold at the University of Lagos on Jan. 27.
Gbadebo said that the NYCN was organising the programme in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and other youth groups in the state.
He said the event would provide a platform for interaction between youths and the candidates.
“We are looking at a debate; we call it a gubernatorial debate, where we will have an interface with all the governorship candidates.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]

“It is going to be a big event, and youths and students will be able to interact with the candidates to understand their programmes,” Gbadebo said.
He said that the NYCN, as the umbrella body of all youth organisations, had embarked on various sensitisation programmes ahead of the 2015 general elections.
“We have sensitised youths on the need to vote for credible candidates who have passion for youths and policies that would transform their lives.

“We have told them not to sell their votes but to vote according to their consciences,” Gbadebo said.
He advised the youth to eschew electoral violence, malpractice and thuggery during the forthcoming elections.
“My advice to Nigerian youths is that we need to take the bull by the horn.
“We must realise that we should not be used as political instruments by politicians who use and dump us after elections.
“The NYCN cannot do this alone; that is why we are asking the media and other groups to join us in sensitising the youth on the need to eschew electoral violence, ” Gbedebo said. (NAN)
