Jakarta – More than 790,000 pieces of best quality personal protective equipment (PPE) have been distributed to hospitals across Indonesia to protect the medical workers from COVID-19 infections amid the growing death toll of medical workers, the government said on Sunday.
“Appropriate use of PPE complying with the standard operating procedure is important,’’ the Indonesian Government’s spokesperson for the COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, said at a press conference.
At least 25 doctors and nine nurses have reportedly died of the COVID-19 as of Friday.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in the country jumped to 4,241 and the death toll climbed to 373, the highest in Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, as many as 359 patients have recovered from the disease.
