Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Paramount Ruler of Bogghom community, Kanam LGA in Plateau State, His Royal Highness Alh Shehu Sulaiman the “Pankwal Bogghom” from his palace.
The kidnappers were said to have come in the early hours of Monday and shot sporadically in the air before they made away with the over 80 years old Monarch.
According to DAILY ASSET Pankwal Bogghom is a Second Class Chief in Plateau State. He was first appointed Pankwal Tankwal on Third Class status in 2002 and later became the Pankwal Bogghom on Second Class status in 2005.
The royal father is said to have marked his 80th birthday and Golden Jubilee on the throne in 2018.
The Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Hon. Abbas Wokdung, while speaking with DAILY ASSET via telephone confirmed the incident stating that the traditional ruler was kidnapped at about 1:00am on Monday by unknown gunmen and has not yet established any contact with the abductors.
He said the Council was working hard in collaboration with the state government and security operatives to secure the safe release of the traditional ruler.
“We are trying our best in conjunction with the state government and security operatives to ensure the release of His Royal Highness, but for now we are yet to established any contact with the kidnappers and no ransom demands have been made yet,” he said.
He said nobody was killed or injured except for one person who had dislocation while running for his life.
“The incident happened at about 1 am on Monday 7 kilometer away from Denggi town the headquarters of Kanam LGA. One person from the Palace ran for his life, he fell down and had dislocation, if the gunmen had the intention of killing somebody they could have killed him but they left him there,” he narrated.
The Plateau State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Gabriel Ubah when contacted said the poor nature of mobile network in the area has made it difficult for him to confirm the incident from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kanam LGA.
