ABUJA – The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Friday said it has launched a web app telling athletes what they need to know about all aspects of its anti-doping programme.
The world athletics governing body said in a statement in Monaco it was the first international sports federation to launch a stand-alone app with detailed anti-doping information.
“It is free to access and as a web app it is available on desktop computers, smart phones and tablets. It can be accessed at iaaf.org/Antidoping,’’ it said. The app also tells them all about the prohibited list and anti-doping rule violations, whereabouts, the Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) and how to report suspicions or instances of doping.
It also has an all-new quiz to put their knowledge to the test.
The athletics body said the app’s launch had been deliberately scheduled to coincide with the IAAF World Junior Championships, tagged “Oregon 2014.
The championships which began on July 22 are being held in Eugene in the U.S. and will end on July 27.
Supporting educational material is being distributed at the championships to educate the new generation of the sport’s stars about anti-doping issues.(NAN)[eap_ad_4]
