Annan to address Nigerian civil society groups on election

Mr Kofi Annan, Chair of the Kofi Annan Foundation is to visit Nigeria from 12-14 January 2015 where he is expected to address conference on elections being organized by a coalition of Nigerian civil society[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″] organisations.

Mr. Annan, who is to deliver the keynote address at the conference billed to hold on Tuesday, 13 January in Abuja, based on his work as chairman of the Global Commission on Elections, Democracy and Security and the findings and recommendations of its report, Deepening Democracy: A Strategy for Improving the Integrity of Elections Worldwide is coming at a time electorates prepare to head to the polls to elect [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]leaders that would deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Mr. Annan will meet with a broad range of Nigeria’s civil society organisations, engage the audience in a question and answer session as well as meet privately with various national stakeholders engaged in the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]electoral process.

The Kofi Annan Foundation, which Mr Annan chairs, focuses its work on peace and security, sustainable development, human rights and to the rule of law with the aim of helping to create a fairer, more secure [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]world. As part of this work, the Foundation promotes impartial and transparent electoral processes through its Electoral Integrity Initiative.
