Ile-Ife (Osun) – An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Monday remanded one Mathew Omoniyi, 22, in police custody over alleged theft of a television and wrist watches.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 11, 2019, at about 2:10 a.m at Ile-Ife.
He said the defendant, of no fixed address, entered into the house of one Eze Sunday and carted away one 32-inch television, three wrist watches and one trouser belt, all valued at N70, 000.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 383, 390(9), 411 and 412 of the Criminal Code Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who was not represented by a counsel, pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of intent to commit felony, entrance and stealing.
Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji, who did not grant bail to the defendant, ordered his remand at ‘A’ Division Police Station at Moore, Ile-Ife.
Olatunji adjourned the case till June 22 for presentation of facts.
