DUTSE – Mr Muhammad Gidado, Jigawa Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said on Tuesday in Dutse that the command recorded 2039 cases between January and [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
December 2014.
The commandant, who spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the cases [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
involved vandalism, rape, defilement and sexual harassment.
Others were cases relating to fraud, fuel diversion, drug peddling, theft, kidnapping, robbery, sabotage [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
among others.
Gidado said that the arrests were made through surveillance and intelligence reports received by the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]corps across the state.
He explained that 48 per cent of the cases were charged to court out of which 36 per cent were convicted, while 11 per cent were awaiting trial.
The commandant added that 27 per cent out of the total cases were settled out of court by the command’s Dispute and Conflict Resolution Unit (DCRU).
According to him, the success recorded by the command, was as a result of understanding, cooperation and assistance received from the people of the state, and urged them to maintain the tempo. (NAN)
