LAGOS – Dr Titi Anibaba, the Managing Director, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), on Tuesday urged the people of the state to cooperate with the agency in its process of landscaping.

Anibaba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that landscaping had its benefits, which she said, many were ignorant of.
She said that since the agency had beautified some areas in the state through landscaping, criminal [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]activities had reduced drastically as there were no favourable hideouts for criminals anymore.
“Apart from beautifying our environment, landscaping also reduces the risk of skin cancer by providing[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″] shades from harmful ultra-violet radiation.
“It aids in the reduction of stress and illnesses by providing psychological refreshment and a sense of [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]well-being.
“Landscaping reduces localised extremes in temperature and produces oxygen for the balancing of the eco-system.
“It provides employment through all aspects of the industry,” she said.
The LASPARK chief executive added that landscaping also attracts tourists, thereby increasing revenue generation for the state.
Anibaba then urged the people of the state to uphold the rules of the agency by not encroaching on the already beautified areas, to maintain a sane and serene environment.
“The agency prohibits walking on lawns and gardens, instead of designated walkways.
“Failing to control animals or allowing animals to defecate and felling or pruning of trees without permission from LASPARK are now offences against the state,’’ Anibaba said.
According to her, anyone who indulges in these acts will be guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or imprisonment or both. (NAN)
