Abuja- Mr Sam Amadi, Chairman of Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Thursday advised candidates in the upcoming general elections to focus on core issues of development rather than abusing themselves.
Amadi gave the advice at a Town Hall meeting organised by Agenda Nigeria in Abuja.
He urged Nigerians to make the politicians to explain what they planned to do to reposition the country.
‘’It is easy for politicians to say they will improve on infrastructure, which we have heard several times,’’ he said.
He explained that Agenda Nigeria was about the future of the country, saying that the forthcoming general elections were crucial to the people.
According to him, we have expectations and those campaigning to us must be interrogated on what they want to do.

Amadi said that no government would solve electricity problem in the nation easily unless it provided structures and improved on existing ones.
In his address, Mr Otive Igbuzor, Coordinator, Africa Centre for Leadership Strategies and Development, said that this year’s general elections would be different from 2011 due to the global fall in the price of crude oil.
“The 2015 elections will be a unique one because it promises to be a contest between the PDP, APC and other parties.
“The contest of 2011 is different from 2015; the price of oil in the country was high in 2011 elections while the reverse is the case in 2015,’’ he said.
He said that the level of consciousness among Nigerians currently was high, adding that it would affect the tempo of the elections. (NAN)
