He described the publication as “a great insult to Islam and Muslims.’’
The publication came three days after the publication of the so-called survivors’ issue, which was created[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″] in the wake of an Islamist killing spree at Charlie Hebdo’s Paris headquarters in which 12 people died.
The cover of the magazine featured a caricature of a weeping Prophet Mohammed holding a “Je suis [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]Charlie’’ sign under the headline “All is forgiven.’’
A statement issued by the presidential palace in Kabul quoted President Ghani as describing the image as `disgraceful’ and the publication as “utterly irresponsible act,’’
It stated that Ghani insisted that freedom of speech should be used for peaceful co-existence and bringing together the different religions of the world.
The president noted that his country had for several years experienced war and violence.
“Thus , this country, more than others, feel the need for peaceful co-existence among all the nations of the world,’’ the statement quoted the president as saying.|
