Ilorin-The family of the late sports administrator, Dr Ayodeji Bello, has promised to sustain his support for sports initiatives.
The widow of the deceased, Yetunde, made the promise on Saturday in Ilorin while receiving members of the Club Owners Association led by Mr Akin Akinbobola who paid her a condolence visit.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former Chairman of Kwara United FC of Ilorin and Board member of Nigeria Football Association (NFA) died on July, 30, 2014.
She expressed happiness that sports personalities in the country could still come together to appreciate the contributions of her late husband.
‘it’s amazing and it is glorious. The recognition, even at death, made us feel that all his contributions to sports development are worthwhile and useful. It is not a waste.
‘We pledge to continue to support sports in the family. This is our pledge, this is our promise. It’s worthwhile,’’ she added.

She said the passion that her late husband displayed toward sports development forced her to also embrace sports, especially football.
Yetunde, a former Director of Administration at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, commended the Club Owners Association for their support.
She also commended all the stakeholders for their support to the family during the burial ceremony.
Akinbobola, while delivering the message of the association, described late Ayo-Bello as an encyclopedia and legend who contributed immensely to sports development.
He described the visit as one for sober reflection and appraisal, adding that the encomiums showered on the late Ayo-Bello were well deserved.
Akinbobola presented a donation of N500, 000 to the family on behalf of the association.
The Acting Secretary of the Club Owners Association, Alloy Chukwuemeka, said the late Ayo-Bello, who was a former Vice Chairman of the body, contributed immensely to sports development.

He said the late Ayo-Bello was a member of virtually all sports development institutions in Kwara and the country, including the Nigeria Football Supporters Club.
The Chairman of the State Football Association, Mallam Busari Ishola, called for the immortalisation of Ayo-Bello in order to keep his legacies alive.
Present at the occasion were Bamidele Aluko, former Chairman of Kwara United, the Director of Sports, Mallam Tunde Kazeem, Chairman of YSFON, Ademola Kiyesola as well as members of Nigeria Football Coaches Association in Kwara.
Others were Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Bunmi Adedoyin, Chairman of Kwara United Supporters Club, Alhaji Tunde Salman, representatives of Kwara Referees Council and members of APFON in the state. (NAN)
