MARMARA (KATSINA STATE) – The Marmara community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State on Tuesday received N500, 000 donation from the council area as support for the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]community’s Juma’at mosque.
Presenting the donation in Marmara, the Council Chairman, Alhaji Muntari Ammani, lauded the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]
community members for investing in the project.
Ammani pledged more of such support from the council and advised the community leaders to also forward requests to the state Department of Community Development.
He also urged them to pray for the peace and stability of the nation in view of the current security challenges.
Ammani called on other community members to emulate Marmara community on proper arrangement and good organisation in executing projects that would benefit them.
He warned the youths against violence and urged them to return to their respective family farms as a bold step to fight poverty.
The chairman said that youths’ involvement in agriculture would surely enhance food production in rural areas, stressing that the efforts would further strengthen government programmes geared towards food security.
According to him, his administration has renovated primary healthcare centres at Malumfashi and Almakiyayi villages and disbursed cash and tools to aid various community initiated projects.
Responding, the Community Project Committee Chairman, Malam Usman Osi, expressed appreciation for the support, stressing that it was the first gesture since the commencement of the project.
Osi implored the council chairman to complete the construction of the health clinic in the area, adding that when completed, the clinic would facilitate healthcare delivery to the community.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ammani had earlier inspected the mosque project and the ceremony was witnessed by religious group leaders, politicians and youth associations.
In another development, Ammani has expressed sympathy with members of the Amalgamated Traders Union of Malumfashi on the fire incident that occurred after an auto crash in the area.
The chairman urged the victims to consider the incident as a will of Allah, stressing that all mortals would undergo one form of problem or the other during their lifetime.
Earlier, the union chairman, Alhaji Tukur Maifada, said the incident occurred on Jan. 15, adding that no fewer than 65 traders were affected by the incident while valuable goods were destroyed.
Maifada said that traders usually travelled to Kano on weekly basis to buy goods that would be sold at Malumfashi township market and other nearby markets at the neighbouring villages.
He said that the traders would jointly hire a truck, combine and transport their goods to Malumfashi from Kano. (NAN)
