According to the statement, the Port Harcourt-based club signed Akakem to strengthen its team ahead of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and Confederations Cup campaigns.
“The defender is among the new faces, whose contracts have been sealed in time for our club’s campaign in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup and the NPFL.
“Akakem is good with both feet. He is a good marker and a combative defender.
“He is calm and comfortable with ball, and prefers short pass from defence to build up play, rather than boot the ball out.
“He is good in the air and is technically sound,’’ it said.
NAN reports that Akakem, played for Heartland and Enugu Rangers football clubs before leaving for Libya.
He had stints with Ajiya Babes and Ocean Boys.
He is expected to make his debut for the Port Harcourt side at the Super Six tournament billed for Abuja.
NAN reports that the Super Six tournament is scheduled to hold start from Jan. 24 and end on Feb. 1, while the 2014/2015 NPFL season is expected to kick-off on March 7. (NAN)
