ABUJA – The Building and Construction Skilled Artisans Association of Nigeria (BACSAAN), has pledged the association’s readiness to assist government check the high incidence of building collapse in the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]country.
BACSAAN’s Director of Operations, Mr Richard Osagiede, made the pledge on Wednesday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the association was “set to assist put an end to building collapse not only in the FCT, but in Nigeria as a whole.”
Osagiede also said that the association would also provide a database of artisans working in the construction industry in order to save the public from patronising quacks.
He said that the association was determined to complement Federal Government’s efforts to reduce crime by ensuring that it trained as many young people as possible on different skills.
“We want to promote ethical values in the building and construction industry by educating artisans and promoting professionalism.
“Our aim is to possibly stop the construction of substandard structures in the country”, he said.
Osagiede appealed to the Federal Capital Territory authorities to allocate a parcel of land to the association for the construction of workshop for the training of artisans.
He also said that the association would use part of the land to build its office complex. (NAN)
