MINNA – The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Friday said 34 persons died in an auto crash at Gadan Kuiwo, along Rijau-Kontagora road.
Mr Pius Bagoohlepeng, the FRSC’s Unit Commander, in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The commander said the accident involved 78 persons with 34 reported dead on the spot while 30 were injured.
He said both the remains of the dead and the injured have been conveyed to the hospital
He said the accident involved two articulated vehicles, a trailer conveying cattle and an oil tanker.
According to him, the vehicles had a head on collusion, which sent the trailer tumbling into the bridge bed at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
Bagoohlepeng said the trailer was coming from Gadan Zaimari, Zamfara State, and was heading to Lagos.
He alleged that the driver of the trailer was believed to be on high speed, minutes before the crash. (NAN)
