The coach spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday in Abuja.
NAN reports that Mfon Udoh was the highest goal scorer of the 2013/2014 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season with 23 goals.
The 22-year-old striker shattered the previous record of 20 goals set in the 2010/2011 season by former-Kaduna United striker Jude Aneke.
Udoh scored further three goals in the Federations Cup to take his tally up to 26 in all competitions, confirming his status as the new ‘goal king’ in the domestic league.
Christopher told NAN that since Udoh left for trials abroad, the club lost its killer instinct in front of goal, adding that Udoh, however, remains part of the club.
“Naturally, Mfon is still with us because he has been registered by Enyimba for the CAF Champions League.
“He has just gone on trials, so we cannot say for now if he will come or not, depending on the agreement between the management and any club interested in the player’s signature.
“However, if he chooses to come back, then, he will automatically pick his shirt because we know that any player who goes on trials usually works harder than when he was here.
“Udoh gives our club a boost in attack. So, definitely he will still be useful to our team if he returns,’’ he said.
NAN recalls that several teams in North Africa and Europe had expressed interest in the attacker’s signature, having put himself in the shopping window during the 2014 season.
Enyimba Chairman, Felix Anyasi Agwu, had earlier turned down an initial 650,000 dollars offer from an unnamed Egyptian club for the player.
The 6-team invitational tournament which commenced on Jan. 24 will end on Sunday, Feb.1.
The participating teams are Enyimba, Warri Wolves, Kano Pillars, the National U-20, Dream Team IV and Dolphins. (NAN)
