Ekiti United FC defeats JKF Boys FC to win Ekiti Federation Cup

ADO-EKITI – Ekiti United Football Club on Sunday defeated JKF Football Club 4-3 on penalty kicks to win the 2014 Ekiti Federation Cup, after a 1-1 draw in full time.

The Ekiti United FC showcased a lot of skillful tactics but could not subdue their opponents within regulation time.

The match was played at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti.

Reacting to the victory, coach of Ekiti United FC, Moses Adewunmi, expressed his appreciation to the team for performing according to his instructions.

Adewunmi said that though the two teams played well, his team was better off.

The coach of JKF Boys FC, Kehinde Anjorin, expressed disappointment at the defeat of his team.

Anjorin said he expected his boys to dominate the match and win the trophy, but the Ekiti United Boys appeared too strong for them.

Speaking at the presentation of medals and trophy to the winners, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Kayode Olaosebikan, commended both football clubs for a good performance.

Olaosebikan also commended the two coaches for their commitment and urged them to continue with the good works.

Ekiti United FC and JKF Boys FC would be representing Ekiti state at the national competition. (NAN)
