Mr Abdul-Hamed Salawu, the newly re-elected Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government, has assured residents of enhanced people-centred programmes with adequate security of lives and property.
Salawu gave the assurance in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.
He assured them of more people-oriented programmes in spite of the ongoing projects and programmes on welfare in the council area.
“Residents should be expecting more projects and financial empowerment programmes for the needy, individuals, groups and communities.
“Though our administration is known for the monthly welfare package for the elderly people at this council, we will continue more of that for the benefit of the people,” he said.
Salawu noted that the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had charged all council chairmen to initiate poverty-reduction programmes at the grassroots.
He added that the governor admonished the council bosses to think out of the box and create an enabling environment for wealth creation at the grassroots.
“The governor has called for peace between the council chiefs and the electorate, saying that it is only under a peaceful atmosphere that jobs can be created,” Salawu said.
He, however, reassured the Somolu residents of more physical projects like road constructions and other tangible developments in the area.
Salawu said that more community development projects would be embarked upon to ensure equity in the area.
“I want to assure residents of a more secured area, as well as the availability of security personnel to enhance protection of lives and property.
