The management of the University of Jos has refuted the news getting the rounds in social media that the institution is to reopen on August 30 for full academic activities.
A statement by the Registrar, Chief Monday Danjem said: “The attention of Management of the University of Jos has been drawn to fake information being circulated on some social media platforms purportedly conveying Management’s approval for the resumption of Second Semester Examinations and other Academic activities in the University by August 30, 2021.
“It is quite obvious that the fake message is intended to misinform members of the University Community, especially our students and members of staff as well as the public given that it also falsely declared that the University will be reopened following an earlier closure.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Management’s decision (pending ratification by Senate of the University) did not direct the school’s closure but the suspension of the Second Semester 2019/2020 Academic Session Examinations and other Academic activities in the University.
“The suspension remains in place until further notice.
“Management further wishes to assure members of the University Community and the public will be adequately informed through the appropriate channels when the University will resume all its activities.
“Members of the University Community and the public should also be guided and confirm the validity of any news item concerning the University on its website www.unijos.edu.ng or University Radio Station ICE FM 96.1 and other conventional Media Channels.
