Esuene dumps PDP, to contest Akwa Ibom guber election on LP ticket

UYO (Sundiata Post) – The spate of defections that had hit the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of this year’s general elections has continued unabated with Mrs. Helen Esuene, a senator representing  Akwa Ibom South Senatorial district joining the Labour Party.‎
Esuene, who was a minister during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, announced her defection from the PDP at a news conference in Eket, Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday.

She said that she would be flying the Labour party’s flag as its governorship candidate in the election scheduled to hold on February 28.
Accordingly, she  picked a former governorship aspirant on the ticket of the PDP, David Okpon as her running mate pledging to create jobs if elected

“The main thrust of my administration shall include vigorous job creation through agriculture, exposition of art/craft for international market, industrialization and so on.
“Others include qualitative education, affordable and accessible health care service delivery, amongst others”, said the distinguished Senator.
On the choice of his running mate, Esuene said that the decision was to ensure  equity and justice as Uyo Senatorial District, where Okpon comes from, had not produced a deputy governor before,
She described her running mate as person with  proven integrity, competence and character, God fearing man and grass roots politician.
