The Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State Command, has presented cheques worth N22.7m to families of 15 officers who died in active service.
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Adesina Soyemi, while presenting the cheques to the next of kin of the officers on Thursday in Lafia, said that the gesture was an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, tagged, ‘Group life Assurance, and aimed at supporting the families of Police officers who die in active service.
He also said that the gesture was to boost the morale of all Police officers in the country in order to spur them to do more in protecting Nigeria and to ensure that the country is safe for citizens.
“On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, today I am presenting cheques worth N22,726,926,83k to 15 families of Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Nasarawa State.
“This is also to boost the morale of all other Police officers in the country so that they will put in their best in fighting crime to ensure that Nigeria is safe for all of us,” the CP added.
One of the beneficiary, Mrs. Nformi Emerencia, who spoke on behalf of the 14 other beneficiaries, thanked the Inspector-General of Police and promised to make judicious use of the money.
