Lawal gave the advice at a one-day sensitisation workshop organised by a coalition of the civil society in Kano on Monday.
He said that conducting free and fair election was the only way the country could be saved from its present socio-economic and security challenges.
The provost added that using religion as a springboard to cause chaos was a bad omen for the country’s democracy.
He said that the political elites instigating youths to resort to violence in the name of democracy were only doing so to achieve their selfish interest.
‘’It is high time for youths to know that they are only being used as cannon fodder.
“I want you to understand that politicians take their children to the best of schools and hospitals but they only turn to you during elections.”
In his remark, the coalition spokesman, Mr Idris Rogo, stressed the need for both Christians and Muslims to live in peace with one another in the spirit of love and brotherhood.
He said that the workshop was organised for Christian and Muslim youths to rub minds on the need to promote peace in the country. (NAN).
