Power bank charger sellers make brisk business in Kano

KANO – Power Bank charger sellers are making brisk business in Kano as the device serves as an alternative power source.

An investigation by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) found that many people in the area, especially youth, prefer to use the facility to charge their cell phones because it is cheaper and portable.

They also go for the device because of the epileptic power supply being experienced in the city.

Some of the retailers of the commodity at Sabon Gari market told NAN that they were making good sales.
Isa Jibril said the business was gaining ground in the city.

“It is an emergency charger. It is very effective in charging cell phones and easy to carry,’’ Jibril said.

He said some of the chargers used electricity while others were solar-powered.

Another seller, Yunusa Garba, also said many people preferred the device because it was cheaper and portable.

‘’The facility is affordable and can be bought for as low as N1, 200, depending on the quality.

‘’We also have the ones that charge mini laptop computers which cost between N 7,000 and N8, 000’’, Garba said.

Balarabe Tahir, a user of the charger, said the facility had saved him the stress of charging his two cell phones with the “unreliable” power supply from the public source. (NAN).
