The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the FCT Area Councils election is to hold on Feb. 12, 2022.
Baba-Yusuf gave the warning while inaugurating Members of the FCT Area Council Election and Appeal Tribunals.
“Let me sound this, please shun corruption in all its appearances.I can assure that’ a man who gives a bribe never keeps quiet.
” To avoid the embarrassment that comes with it therefore, you must ensure that Justice in the tribunal must be based on law and facts put together to make a juridical and judicious determination” he said
“Now, the ball lies squarely in your court to do your own part by justifying the confidence we have reposed in you by appointing you into such important responsibility,” he said.
In doing this, he said, members must vigorously discharge your mandate with the understanding that as ambassadors of this court, nothing less than the best is expected of you.
“I will not protect any member that yields to attempt by desperate persons to present bribe as a way to get judgment in their favour.
“All I expect from you is to remain focused on your assignment, always bearing in mind that the interest of the electoral Justice which you are graciously appointed to protect, must not be toyed,” he said.
He urged members to always work with the consciousness that they are partly custodians of democracy and that their decisions have great implication for democratic consolidation in the FCT and the Nation at large.Baba-Yusuf said the inauguration was in line with the provisions of sections 135 and 136 of the electoral Act as amended.
