ABUJA – The police on Thursday arraigned a 25-year-old businessman, Saidu Abbas, resident of Area 1 Garrki, Abuja, in an FCT Area Court Lugbe, on a one-count charge of theft.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Anigbo Paul, told the court that one Esther Offor, reported the matter at Lugbe Police Station on Dec. 6.
Paul said that the complainant claimed that from December 2013 to November 2014, a gang of thieves broke into her room three times and made away with some of her property.
He listed the stolen items, besides N60,000 cash to include: a generator, home theater musical set, six phones all valued at N302, 500.
He further said that during police investigation, the accused person was arrested with one of the stolen phones, a blackberry bold 5.
Paul said that the accused person confessed that he bought the phone from one Bala at the rate of N12, 000 without a receipt.
He also said that the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and Senior Judge Gambo Garba, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.
He said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till April 1 for further hearing. (NAN
