ENUGU- The Greater Awgu Youth Leaders (GAYL) has assured the PDP governorship candidate, Dr Peter Mbah, and other Party candidates in Awgu Council Area of 100 per cent votes come 2023 general elections.
The group gave the assurance at the end of their maiden meeting on Wednesday in Enugu.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Greater Awgu consists of Awgu, Oji-River and Aninri Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
Briefing newsmen in Enugu, the former Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Mr Uche Umeh, congratulated Mbah for emerging as the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Enugu.
Umeh said GAYL would support and sensitise their people on the imperative of having a progress-minded governorship candidate in the person of Mbah.
“Our membership drive has what it takes to influence the victory of PDP in the Greater Awgu come 2023 and we promise to do it with a high sense of altruism and decorum.
“We felicitate also with Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu and Engr. Osita Ngwu for emerging the House of Representatives and Senatorial candidates respectively.
“We promise to do everything possible within our strength and law to get them winning the election.”
He, however, called on every stakeholders to come together and embrace peace to ensure that all the candidates become victorious in 2023 elections.
Umeh thanked Greater Awgu for being resolute in effort to deepen democracy in the area through the instrumentality of PDP, saying “We promise them a conducive political atmosphere within this period and we wish our party candidates well.”
GAYL also lauded Ugwuanyi for his sterling leadership qualities, especially for the peace and sanity in the state, stressing “We will continue to support the governor and his administration.
“We thank him for all the projects and appointments made from Greater Awgu, especially the appointments of our brothers as the Vice Chancellor, Enugu State University of Technology, and commissioners.
He added that the Youth Leaders deliberated on the economy, politics, education, agriculture, security and youth empowerment. (NAN)
