Man, 52, Docked Over Alleged Fraud, Threat To Life

Ado-Ekit – A 52- year old man, Akeredolu Abayomi, was on Friday arraigned in Ado-Ekiti, for allegedly defrauding his friend of N102,000.Oluwaseun, whose address was not provided,  is facing a two-count charge of fraud and threat to life, before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court.He pleaded not guilty to the charge butthe prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov.11 at 4:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.Adeniyi said that the defendant fradulently converted the money belonging to the complainant, Mr Oguntoyinbo Bamikole.He said the complainant had given the defendant the money for safe keeping, but when he needed the amount, the defendant refused to give it back to him.Adeniyi said the defendant threatened to kill the complainant and his family, if he further demanded for his money.The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to assemble his witnesses.Defence Counsel,  Miss Damilola Oso, urged the Court to grant her client bail,  promising that the defendant would not jump bail.The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Kay-Williams, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.Kay-Williams adjourned the case to Jan.11 for mention.(NAN)
