LAGOS – A 60-year-old man and two women were on Tuesday charged before an Ojo Magistrates’ court in Lagos for allegedly assaulting a woman and stealing jewellery, Naira and Euros valued at N2,160,000.

The women, Ogbomma Amaechi (37), Obiageri Okonkwo (32) and 60-year-old Michael Agwu, are standing trial on a three-count-charge of felony, assault and theft.
The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that Ogomma, a divorcee, in the company of Obiageri and Agwu had on March 2, at 3:00 p.m. conspired among themselves to commit felony.
`The accused man and two women on the said date assaulted Mrs Ebube Ezenwachime on her way back from seeing her husband off on a foreign trip by beating her up with fist blows.
“They stopped the woman at Ajangbadi first bus stop in her car, beat her to the extent of causing the woman wounds on her mouth and body,” he said.
Eze added that the three accused persons also stole a wedding ring valued at N140,000, a golden necklace worth N120,000, cash of N700,000 and 5,000 Euros.
“The accused women and the man stole jewellery and cash in Naira and Euro currencies valued at N2,160,000 from Mrs Ezenwachime,” he said.
Eze said that the offences committed by the accused persons contravened Sections 409, 171 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the accused man and women pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Teslimi Shomade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N2,160,000 with two sureties each, two years tax clearance and a deposit of N10, 000.
Shomade adjourned the case till April 13, for mention. (NAN)
