Lagos, – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Friday, charged a 30-year-old man Ahmed Ojonugwa before a Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged drug trafficking.
The defendant, whose home address was not provided, is charged on a two-count bordering on illegal deal in Cannabis and Metaphetamine.
NDLEA Prosecutor Lambert Nor alleged that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 6, 2022, at Idi-Oro in Mushin area of Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant illegally dealt in 11kg of Cannabis and 23g of Metaphetamine.
According to the prosecution, both drugs are similar to psychotropic substances like cocaine, and heroine, and are categorized as restricted narcotics prohibited by the NDLEA Act.
Nor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Caps N30, Law of the Federation, 2004.
The Act provides a penalty of life imprisonment if convicted.
No date has been fixed for arraignment of the defendant.(NAN)
