According to sources, two of the Chibok girls who had been held captive by Boko Haram for nine years have managed to escape from the Sambisa forest on Sunday, April 25, 2023.
The escapees have been identified as Hauwa Mutah and Esther Markus, from Chibok and Dzilang village, respectively.
The number of Chibok schoolgirls still in captivity has been reduced from 98 to 96.
Recall that, Boko Haram had kidnapped 276 girls from Government Secondary School, Chibok, on April 14, 2014. As of Colonel Obinna Ezuipke’s recent report, there are still 98 Chibok girls in Boko Haram captivity, as 178 have been rescued or released.
