Port Harcourt-The Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), on Saturday graduated 5, 600 first and higher degrees students at its 27th convocation ceremony.
The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Barineme Fakae, while addressing students and dignitaries at the convocation ceremony in Port Harcourt, said that 5, 155 students graduated with first degrees.
According to him, 203 graduated with Post Graduate Diploma, 216 students were awarded with Master’s degrees while 26 were conferred with the Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
Fakae said that under the undergraduate category, seven students graduated with First Class degrees and 376 graduated with Second Class (Upper) division.
“Also, a total of 2, 508 students were awarded with Second Class (Lower) division, 1, 783 students bagged Third Class while 481 graduated with Pass degree,” he said.
He said that the university had worked tirelessly to ensure best practices in teaching and learning to improve the quality of graduates in the country.

“Our commitment to improving education in Nigeria informed the university’s successful implementation of online examinations system.
“This system of examining students removes irregularities and difficulties associated with manual examination which is part of our bid to remain an E-university,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the university awarded “Emeritus Professors” to three eminent scholars for their selfless contributions to growth of tertiary education in the country.
The awardees are Prof. Dagogo Fubara, a Professor of Geodesy; Prof. Steve Odi-Owei, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Prof. Augustine Ahiauzu, Professor of Management. (NAN)
