Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, winner of the reality show Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up,’ recently spoke out about her breakup with fellow contestant Groovy.
During a recent interview, Phyna revealed that although she genuinely liked Groovy, their relationship was all a game to her.
Initially, Phyna believed that her relationship with Groovy was authentic. However, things took a different turn when she discovered that Groovy had feelings for another housemate, Chomzy.
The discovery made Phyna to change her approach and to start playing the game herself.
Phyna explained that she overheard a conversation between Groovy and another housemate discussing how to manipulate her since she was one of the top contenders in the house.
This incident prompted her to emotionally detach herself from Groovy and adopt a strategic mindset.
“When I first entered into the relationship, I genuinely believed it was real. But when I found out that he had feelings for someone else, even though I had feelings for him too, I decided to be smart about it. After all, I’m an Edo girl, and I refuse to be left behind,” Phyna said.
She recognised that the relationship was part of the game and acknowledged her ability to adapt and do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. Phyna admitted that she realised Groovy’s intentions when she discovered his affection for another girl.
The confirmation came when she overheard someone advising him to stick with her because she was a strong competitor in the house, and once the show was over, he could go on with the girl he truly liked.
