ABUJA- Betta Edu, minister of humanitarian affairs, says the administration of President Bola Tinubu is focused on being transparent in the selection process of new N-Power beneficiaries.
Ms Edu, in an interview with Channels TV on Sunday night, said this when asked why the selection process for N-Power beneficiaries appears to be favouring politically connected applicants and what she will be doing to ensure applicants are selected based on merit.
“Those are part of things which we are investigating. For us, the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the watchword is transparency, accountability and integrity,” Mrs Edu said.
“For the empower, everyone who applies as far as you meet the criteria for each category, you’ll be given a chance on first come, first served.”
The minister further said the humanitarian affairs ministry is out to do things differently and touch the lives of poor Nigerians when confronted with how the ministry hoarded palliatives during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Nigerians can trust me. Not just me, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Ms Edu said, promising to ensure adequate allocation and disbursement of resources under her watch to provide succour to poor Nigerians.
