Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Women group under the aegis of Nigerian Association of Women Entrepreneur (NAWE), Delta State chapter, has said partnering with the State government in the area of Trade will boost women entrepreneurial skills and make them more financially independent. https://sundiatapost.com/nawe-calls-for-stiffer-measures-to-stop-gender-violence-against-women-girls/
NAWE said if the State government will also invest in the training of women on skills acquisition it will in the short run have a ripple effect on the State economy in the area of Small Medium Enterprise (SME).
The Chairperson of NAWE in Delta State, Amb. Philomena Badaiki was speaking on Wednesday, during a courtesy call paid to the State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Samuel Oligida.
Badaiki said that the familiarization visit to the Commissioner became necessary since the government has placed priority in developing human capacity in order to fast track economic growth.
Congratulating Oligida on his appointment as a Commissioner, NAWE tasked him to carry women along in the economic programmes of the Ministry.
“We are here to familiarize ourselves with you and to pledge our support to the Ministry under your watch”,Badaiki said.
According to her: “Through various policies like Trade policy, Investment policy among others, Nigerian women could leverage on these and promote their businesses.
“The Ministry in its regulatory functions could continue to initiate policies and programmes that will enhance the participation of women in the Delta State economy”, NAWE said.

While commending the Commissioner for being gender sensitive she said she looks forward to a robust collaboration in the four years tenure of the State government.
Responding, the Commissioner said women are key in the new administration’s policy in eradicating poverty in the State.
Oligida said NAWE should always make themselves available to the Ministry to aid a smooth and seamless collaboration with government policies on capacity building.
He promised that he will facilitate a soft loan to women in order to grow their businesses.
