PORT HARCOURT – The Senator-elect for Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Mr Olaka Nwogu, on Friday urged the NFA to use age grade players to build a new Super Eagles team.
Nwogu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt that the national U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams had abundant talents that could be used or upgraded to form the new Super Eagles.
The Senator-elect said such age grade players should be good and must have made their marks, to play for the Super Eagles.
‘’ The age grades should be combined with local Eagles, playing within the country. They should be given some international exposure.
‘’But to come to the Eagles, you must have made your mark and you must be worthy of the jersey.
‘’ Once you get to that point to play, you must play to win,’’ he said.
Nwogu said the new look Eagles must have the winning mentality that Nigeria was noted for.
He said that the age grade players should form the core of building talents for the future.
‘’ Where as building talents for the future must happen, it has to happen within the age grades.
‘’ For those who are not within the age grades, introduce them sparingly, let the core of the team be the established players , that way, we will get the result and still get people to have their playing times,’’ he said.

Nwogu also called on the NFA to be decisive on the employment of Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, so that the nation’s football could move on.
‘’It’s either Keshi is on or not. If he is on, then he has to give his all and give us the result.
‘’But, if he is out, then lets realise that, you cannot just keep waiting for somebody, you cut his salary and wait for him to make up his mind,’’ he said.
According to Nwogu, there has to be some decisiveness now and the NFA should conclude the matter as soon as possible. (NAN)
