BENUE (Sundiata Post) – Concerned about the rising attacks on Benue communities by armed herdsmen, the State House of Assembly has called for the appearance of the Special Advisers to the Governor on Security Matters, as well as the Commanders of Livestock and Volunteer Guards.
The Advisers and heads of the state’s security outfits have been summoned to appear before the House at 10 am on February 13, 2024.
The summon was sequel to a motion moved by the member representing Gwer East state Constituency, Elias Audu and seconded by Kennedy Angbo of Otukpa/Akpa state Constituency.
The motion was also supported by the Chief Whip and member representing Katsina-Ala West state Constituency, Peter Ipusu.
The lawmakers expressed “worry over the mindless killings in the state and accompanying huge influx of Fulani herdsmen in the state with their cattle.”
The House also called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to initiate the process of replacing the arrested Caretaker Chairman of Gboko Local Government Area, LGA, Mr. Tervershima Agber. Mr Agber was few weeks back arrested at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja for his alleged complicity in the plot to assassinate the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Hyacinth Dajoh.
The House urged the governor to make a choice of a new Gboko Chairman from the same Constituency as the embattled Chairman.
