Abuja (Sundiata Post) – A Plateau State Senator, Nora Daduut has extended her philanthropic gesture to victims of attacks in Mangu, Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of the State, by donating relief materials to those displaced by attacks and killings from Fulani bandits.
These LGAs have suffered from incessant attacks since April 2023, leading to many scattered in different IDP camps in the localities.
The items donated to the victims are valued to the tune of N5 million, our correspondent reports.
The items donated consist of food items ranging from bags of rice, cartoons of Maggie, clothings and other valuables.
Speaking on Wednesday during a courtesy call paid to the paramount ruler of Mangu LGA, His Royal Highness, John Putmang Hirse, Daduut said she was at the community to sympathise with the people and share with their pains.
According to her: “I am here to commiserate with the People of Mangu Local government council over the unfortunate attacks that happened in the Council.
“These series of attacks have inflicted a lot of pain on the People of Mangu.
“The victims really need much more relief materials to cushion the effects of these pains, and I have come today in my small way to present these items”, she said.
Speaking further she continued: “I recall that my friend and colleague, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, came to the State last year and donated N500 million.
“I highly commend her for that intervention and appeal to other philanthropists to come to the aid of these victims.
“The zeal of the President’s wife to uplift women out of poverty cannot be underestimated. The launch of her initiative underscores the importance of empowering our womenfolk as an integral part of Tinubu’s economic policies”, she said.
Daduut also lauded a business man Mr Vincent Ejibe for his efforts towards supporting the kind gesture to the displaced victims.
”We should also embark on fervent prayers for divine intervention, for God to prevent the recurrence of the persistent killings, as well as the repose of the souls of the deceased persons.
The Senator also appealed to government and security agencies to ensure improvement in the security surveillance so that normalcy would return to the State.
Responding, the paramount ruler of Mangu, HRH, John Hirse commended Daduut for the gesture and prayed to God to reward her.
“Despite the fact that you are no longer in office you are still coming to show love to the people of the Council.
“You are passionate about the people and always concerned about the insecurity in Mangu”, the royal father said.
