Abuja (Sundiata Post) -The 2-day national protest by the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) took off successfully in Jos the Plateau state capital with members of the organized Labor converging at Secretariat round about Jos.
The turnout was relatively poor as members sluggishly came to the venue sluggishly to avoid victimisation.
The low turnout was attributed to a boycott by the TUC.
State NLC chairman Comrade Engine Manji while addressing the protesters said, “The protest is not for NLC, but for Nigerians. There will be no street procession, we shall remain under the bridge.
Huge number of armed policemen who arrived at the venue earlier remain calm and vigilant looking out for any sign of lawlessness.
The protest did not however affect business activities of the state as residents were seen going about their daily activities as usual.
The state command of the Nigerian police force had earlier assured residents of their safety during the protest.
