A prominent member of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) and former Delta State House of Assembly Member, Efe Ofobruku, disclosed in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Monday that while petroleum product subsidies persist, the amount allocated has decreased compared to previous levels.
He attributed the potential gap in costs to the current exchange rate and measures taken by the government, emphasizing that policy adjustments are underway.
Ofobruku acknowledged past decisions contributing to the current economic challenges and stressed ongoing efforts to rectify them.
He highlighted policy inconsistencies and the need for accountability, especially within refineries where employees receive salaries despite non-functionality. Urging patience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, he emphasized that positive changes are underway but may not yield immediate results.
In concluding, Ofobruku expressed confidence in the government’s direction and called for understanding, stating that the challenges faced are integral to achieving long-term economic improvement.
