FRSC appeals for additional patrol vehicles from Anambra govt.

ONITSHA (ANAMBRA) – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Tuesday appealed to the Anambra government for additional vehicles that would facilitate its personnel’s motoring activities in the state.

The Sector Commander in Anambra, Mr Sunday Ajayi, made the appeal while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Onitsha after the Special Easter Patrol.

Ajayi noted that additional vehicles would ensure prompt response to emergencies arising from accidents.

“I must appreciate the state government for floating the Anambra Traffic Management Agency (ATMA) and resuscitating the state Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) directorate.

“Also other traffic agencies at the local government levels have been revived which has been working in synergy with the FRSC and it has enhanced our work greatly.

According to him, Gov. Willie Obiano has been doing a lot for the safety of Anambra people and also contributing to road safety in the state.

“But we still feel that more could be done in the area of provision of logistics to the FRSC, vehicles in particular.

“With the additional vehicles, we will adequately monitor the state for enforcement of road safety regulations as well as our response to emergencies anywhere in the state.’’

The commander said the commission was looking at the possibility of moving its personnel to any accident scene within five minutes anywhere in the state.

NAN recalls that Obiano donated five operational vehicles to the FRSC Sector Command in Anambra in 2014. (NAN)
