Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The President of Anambra Welfare Association in Jos, Mazi Ozodindu Nnawetanma Obikwelu has said the claim that Governor Charles Soludo is not receiving salary for the past two years since he became governor, has put him on the right track.
The Igbo Chieftain said Anambra State has always been a pace setter when it comes to governors performance reminding Nigerians of how former governor Chris Ngige governed the State, followed by Peter Obi and now Soludo is toeing the right path.
Obikwelu stated this in Jos Tuesday, when he was responding to the statement credited to the Governor last Sunday during the celebration of the anniversary of his administration at the International Convention Center, Awka, which was broadcasted live on Channels Television.
Soludo had said for the past two years, he has not received salary as a Governor and has not borrowed money on behalf of the State to execute projects, neither does the wife own a single official car nor have the office of the first lady with allocation.
“Any governor that comes (into power), floods you with offers for borrowing and so on and so forth, but we decided for the first two years to demonstrate something: Capacity to do more with less”.
Responding, the Jos based Anambra leader said this prudence informed why the Governor has achieved so much in two years.
He said roads are being constructed and commissioned, salaries paid at when due and Onitsha city fast becoming an icon town to be compared with the first developed world.
“Soludo has been fulfilling all that he promised to do during the campaign. He has been wearing a local fabric just as he has promised.
“The aim of being adorned in a local fabric is to encourage local production and manufacturing.
“There is no way the country will grow its GDP without encouraging local manufacturers.
“If the Governor continues to perform like this, I will not think twice to vote him back to complete his eight years in office”, he said.
