The Ganduje Ward Executive Council in Kano State has made a bold move, suspending Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision stems from lingering corruption allegations, particularly concerning a widely circulated video allegedly showing Ganduje receiving bundles of dollars as a bribe.
Led by Haruna Gwanjo, the Executive Council announced the suspension during a press briefing in Kano. The video, which surfaced in 2017, triggered significant controversy and scrutiny, despite Ganduje’s denial and insistence on innocence.
Now, the case is being revisited by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) administration under Governor Abba Yusuf. Ganduje faces charges related to bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including allegations of accepting $413,000 and N1.38 billion in bribes.
The Kano High Court is set to arraign Ganduje on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, along with his wife and six others. The Yusuf administration is prepared to present 15 witnesses to testify before Justice Usman Na’aba of the State High Court in what promises to be a high-profile legal battle.
