The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is teaming up with the Nasarawa state government and Bobtrack Tractors, a division of Saint Bob Motors Limited, to kickstart the production and assembly of tractors in the north-central region.
Utilizing the advanced facilities at NASENI’s Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the collaboration aims to bolster job creation and economic opportunities for Nigerian youths, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for food security and mechanized farming.
During a visit to NASENI’s headquarters in Abuja on April 22nd, 2024, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, expressed readiness to formalize the partnership with Governor Abdulahi A. Sule and the delegation from Bobtrack Tractors, stressing the Agency’s commitment to fast-tracking the initiative.
Highlighting the significance of NASENI’s National Tractor Recovery Programme, which aims to refurbish 55,000 tractors for nationwide mechanized farming, Mr. Halilu emphasized President Tinubu’s recognition of NASENI as a national asset.
Governor Sule echoed the sentiment of promoting locally manufactured goods and ensuring an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, underscoring the importance of collaboration in driving economic growth.
CEO of Bobtrack Tractors, Mr. Ibifiri A.C. Bob Manuel, affirmed the company’s readiness to leverage NASENI’s facilities in Nasarawa State to create employment opportunities and support the government’s vision for mechanized agriculture. He expressed willingness to invest in Nasarawa state with the support of Governor Sule, his administration, and NASENI.
