In a recent meeting between key members of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) and representatives from Moniepoint Inc in Lagos, critical issues surrounding the enhancement of Nigeria’s pharmaceutical supply chain were highlighted.
The discussion emphasized the urgent need to harness digital technology to tackle challenges such as the proliferation of counterfeit drugs in the unregulated open drug market and to advance financial inclusion within the health sector, ultimately striving towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all Nigerians despite the country’s growing population and limited healthcare workforce.
Led by Pharm Wale Oladigbolu, the National Chairman of ACPN, the delegation commended Moniepoint for its efforts in providing reliable digital payment services to over 6,000 community pharmacies across Nigeria. Oladigbolu emphasized the importance of transitioning from cash-based transactions to digital platforms within the pharmaceutical industry to unlock growth opportunities and improve financial inclusion. He stressed the potential for digital and technological innovation to revolutionize healthcare delivery, supply chain management, and policy formulation in Nigeria.
Expressing enthusiasm for collaboration, Oladigbolu sought Moniepoint’s active involvement in ACPN’s upcoming 43rd annual Scientific Conference in Ibadan, Oyo State. He highlighted the conference as an opportunity for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement, with additional recreational activities planned for attendees.
Ifeanyi Duru, Vice President of Sales and Partnerships at Moniepoint Inc, welcomed the prospect of partnering with ACPN to leverage digital financial services for greater empowerment and inclusion in Nigeria’s healthcare sector. He emphasized Moniepoint’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive financial ecosystem tailored to the unique needs of community pharmacists.
