Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 20 individuals, comprising both men and women, for participating in mixed-gender bathing at a leisure center situated at Ring Road in Kano. The arrests were made by the Hisbah board’s Operation Kau Da Badala following complaints from local residents.
According to a report by DAILY TRUST, Dr. Mujahidin Aminuddin Abubakar, the Deputy Commandant General of the board, stated that the activity violated Hisbah law, which prohibits the mingling of both genders inside water for bathing purposes. He expressed concern over such activities, suggesting that the individuals involved could have pursued more beneficial and rewarding activities in accordance with religious teachings.
Dr. Abubakar emphasized the importance of parents and guardians closely monitoring their children’s whereabouts. He noted that the suspects would face appropriate punishment once the investigation is concluded.
The incident underscores the Hisbah board’s commitment to upholding religious and moral values within the community and ensuring compliance with established laws and regulations.
